The “Incubator of Innovation 2.0” project contributed to the financing of 9 selected R&D works. Today we present the technology developed under the leadership of Prof. Sławomir Kurpaska, Ph.D., as part of the pre-implementation work entitled “Determining the technical and operational parameters of the pneumatic system equipment of the working head in the combine section for harvesting strawberries from crops, row or bed, field and / or under covers “.
The pneumatic (vacuum) system created during the project – as an innovative solution – gives the opportunity to improve the effectiveness of the gripper’s work (it shortens the time of obtaining the fruit, enables reaching the fruit placed inside the bush habit, allows for extracting the fruit to a position favorable for the proper harvesting operation, and it can reduce the occurrence of mechanical damage to the fruit).
The main advantages of using the technology:
- simplicity of the structure, and thus lower failure rate of the robot arm
- compact structure (possibility to install robot elements ensuring harvesting efficiency)
- possibility of harvesting from places difficult to reach for a mechanical gripper
- less damage (the gripper works with the scissor cutting element)
- satisfactory performance

The aim of the project “Incubator of Innovation 2.0” is to support the process of managing the results of scientific research and development works, in particular with regard to their commercialization. The implementation of the program should contribute to the promotion of scientific achievements, increasing their impact on the development of innovation and strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and the economic environment.
The project called “Incubator of Innovation 2.0” is carried out as part of an out-of-competition project “Support for the management of scientific research and commercialization of R&D results in research units and enterprises” under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020 (Measure 4.4). The total value of the Project is PLN 1,210,000.
