The 1st edition of the “Startup School UR” competition organized as part of the “Incubator of Innovation 4.0” project is behind us!

The 1st edition of the “Startup School UR” competition has come to an end. The aim of the workshop was to support the employees of the University and research teams working for science in the field of transforming their inventive and inventive potential into innovative enterprises. During several weeks of intensive work, under the supervision of experts from the Center for Technology Transfer of the University of Agriculture in Krakow and invited experts and workshop technicians, participants gained experience and knowledge needed to create the foundations of their own business using the most effective methodologies appropriate for the development of innovative projects. The entire training was conducted thanks to the implementation of the “Incubator of Innovation 4.0” Project.

The competition was comprehensive and pragmatic, and its scope included:

Workshop I – Customer Development with the use of Design Thinking elements – a working session focused on discovering the customer’s persona and creating foundations for the construction of an MVP
Workshop II – Business model definition and business model innovation with the use of Business model canvas elements and 10 Types of Innovation – a working session focused on building operational excellence of the enterprise
Workshop III – Business model exploration with the use of Agile Management and Lean Management elements – a working session focused on continuous validation of key business assumptions
Accompanying meetings – devoted to issues such as regulations for entrepreneurship, obtaining financing, technology transfer, the art of presenting and selling ideas, as well as project management using agile methodologies.

“Startup School UR” was carried out in cooperation with the Center for Technology Transfer of the University of Agriculture in Krakow and Open Innovation House – a consulting company specializing in building innovation stimulation ecosystems, including experienced experts who create and manage: incubators, accelerators, hackathons, scouting campaigns.

By combining the competences of the Technology Transfer Center of the University of Agriculture in Krakow and the Open Innovation House, all teams received knowledge and tools that allow them to effectively lead innovative projects, make business hypotheses, perform dedicated experiments, build agile project management plans, quickly move between successive milestones, and constantly measure the results achieved. All this translated into the fact that during several weeks of intensive work, the teams could make significant progress in the development of their projects.

All teams that have completed the first edition of “Startup School UR” come out strengthened and better prepared to confront their innovative products with the market. The organizers of the first edition of “Startup School UR” were: University of Agriculture in Krakow through the University’s Technology Transfer Center and the Innovation Center of the University of Agriculture in Krakow Ltd. The contractor from outside the University was the company Open Innovation House Ltd.

The series of workshops was organized as part of the Project called “Incubator of Innovation 4.0”, co-financed by the non-competition program “Support for scientific research management and commercialization of R&D results in research units and enterprises”, under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020.

The program called “Incubator of Innovation 4.0” is implemented as part of a non-competitive project entitled “Support for the management of scientific research and commercialization of R&D results in research units and enterprises” under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014 – 2020 (Measure 4.4).
